Matilija is a celebration of food and wine from California and Mexico, with an emphasis on California immigrant food history and culture.

California farms and farmers produce 2/3 of the country's fruit and nutsand 1/4 of its vegetables, while Mexico is the largest source of agricultural import for the United States.

California is also home to a large populationof immigrants whosefood cultures and traditions are woven into the very fabric of what California food is today, and is part of what we strive to promote and celebrate.

We are always looking for high quality shelf stable food items made and grown in California and/ or Mexico.

We know there are many wonderful people growing and making food outside of these areas, and you can find those items in our own pantry year round. Some things just grow better in other parts of the world, and we respect and support that always.

We choose to work specifically with California and Mexico farmers and producers for several reasons: agricultural statistics, sustainability, and to support the food community we live in, are deeply connected to, and benefit greatly from.
